The first Syrian Air flight to transport pilgrims to the Holy House of God will begin today, Tuesday 05/28/2024, and will continue until 06/10/2024 after a series of preparations and measures taken by the Syrian Airlines Corporation to make the Hajj season a success this year after an absence of nearly 12 years.
In a statement to the Syrian newspaper Al-Watan, the Director General of the Syrian Airlines Corporation, Engineer Hatem Kabas, spoke about securing all the supplies and equipment and all the preparations, starting from the moment of cutting the ticket and booking, all the way to the lounges designated for pilgrims at the airport, all the way to the departure gates and from there to board the plane.
Mr. Hatem Kabas stated that the Pilgrims Hall No. 2 was rehabilitated after 12 years of stopping receiving pilgrims, and it was equipped with scales and scanners, in addition to preparing special chairs for older pilgrims. Two transit lounges were also prepared, one of which is large and can accommodate 280 passengers on a large plane, and the other is small, which can accommodate 280 passengers. For 200 passengers.
He added: All basic services are secured and facilitated for pilgrims, along with providing all electronic equipment, including screens and printers, stressing the need to reduce as much as possible the number of those accompanying pilgrims, especially since there is follow-up from Syrian Airlines employees to assist pilgrims.
The Director noted the cooperation with the regiment secretaries to facilitate the affairs of the pilgrims, especially since a good percentage of the pilgrims are elderly, including those boarding the plane for the first time.
He explained that in cooperation with the General Civil Aviation Corporation, bathrooms equipped with ablutions and prayer rooms were prepared with more than one place for men and women inside the passenger lounge, while the external pilgrims lounge was prepared for temporary waiting, and the lounge was equipped with all requirements, including air conditioners, television screens, and a water cooler.
The Director praised the Minister of Transport’s tour of Damascus International Airport and his briefing on all the best procedures and what had been arranged and coordinated in cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments and its great efforts in managing this file.
